KNOW YOUR OPTIONS

Regenerative / Orthobiologics

As we age, our ability to repair damaged tissue, whether it is tendons, ligaments or cartilage, diminishes. Focused treatments, such as rehabilitation and therapeutic injections, can be quite helpful, and in some cases, might be all that is needed to treat the underlying pathology.

As the painful conditions progress, traditional options to decrease inflammation and pain are limited (e.g. ibuprofen, opioid pain medication and repeated cortisone injections) and in many cases they do nothing to actually treat the ongoing problem.  This would be similar to treating a rattling noise in your car engine by turning up the radio. The noise would be drowned out but the problem in the engine is getting worse and likely getting much harder and more “costly” to treat.

These have traditionally been the treatment options until the pain becomes debilitating and a joint replacement might be recommended.  Sometimes this is the best option, but many times, it simply is not.

Regenerative / Orthobiologics is changing this traditional approach. Instead of simply masking the pain, these therapies can help regenerate damaged tissue to alleviate pain by correcting the underlying problem and restoring normal function.

Our Tailored, Non-Invasive Approach
Regeneration Pittsburgh uses the most progressive protocols incorporating all treatment options used today in regenerative medicine. These protocols are performed as outpatient procedures under local anesthesia and require little to no downtime.

As no two patients present the same, no two treatment protocols should be the same. Each regenerative medicine protocol is tailored to meet the specific pathology, goals and needs of the patient before, during and after the procedure.

Before
A thorough evaluation and examination is completed to determine the exact pathology and specific protocol. Nutraceuticals/supplements designed to prepare the body to accept the growth factors and orthotic bracing designed to reinforce pathologic tissue respectively are prescribed if necessary.

During
The pathologic tissue is ‘primed’ with an injection such as ozone or prolotherapy prior to the introduction of growth factors to ensure proper ‘seeding’ in the specified tissue. The utmost care is taken to ensure delivery of growth factors to the exact area of need with ultrasound guidance.

After
Several cutting-edge treatments and nutraceuticals are used so the growth factors remain viable and effective at healing for the longest possible time. Specific restrictions/activities and goals are identified, and a detailed rehabilitation/physical therapy program is designed to promote progressive return of desired function.
Commonly Affected Areas

Knee

Several common causes of knee pain have shown positive response to regenerative treatments, including osteoarthritis, meniscus and other ligament damage, traumatic injuries, and other degenerative conditions. Other causes can include age-related degeneration and overuse conditions. By applying stem cell therapy we can alleviate most degenerative conditions through minimally invasive stem cell injections for your knee pain.

Foot & Ankle

Pain in the foot and ankle can feel especially debilitating due to it directly inhibiting mobility. Injury, arthritis, and other degenerative conditions can cause this kind of pain, and can prevent patients from walking or moving comfortably. Fortunately, cellular therapies for joint pain of the foot and ankle can provide potential benefit for patients.

Hip

Hip pain can restrict mobility and prevent sufferers from enjoying activities of daily life. Hip surgery is often offered as a solution, but can result in lengthy and painful downtime. Alternatively, cellular therapies show promise in treating causes of hip pain such as injury, hip arthritis, and other degenerative conditions.

Shoulder

Shoulder pain can cause reduced range of motion and prevent patients from engaging fully in daily life. Common causes of shoulder pain include trauma or injury, arthritis, and other degenerative and age-related conditions. Those who suffer from shoulder pain can avoid costly and painful surgeries with cellular therapies.

Neck, Back & Spine

Neck and back pain can have many causes, two of the most common being degenerative disk disease and facet arthropathy. Some forms of back pain can also be caused by arthritis of the facet joints, the small joints where vertebra connect to their adjacent neighboring vertebrae. Fortunately, cellular therapies for neck, back and spine can provide potential benefit for patients.

Elbow and Hand

Pain in the elbows, wrist, and fingers can be debilitating, and can prevent patients from participating in many activities of daily living. Cellular therapies have the potential to relieve pain in the elbow, wrist and hand caused by arthritis, injury, and other degenerative conditions.
